Coffee Pot Hors D’oeuvers

Inspired by the classic Coffee Pot sandwich from Bangor, Maine, this easy appetizer starts with a baked pizza crust topped with a creamy dill and garlic spread, finely chopped tomato, green pepper and onion, and a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese. It captures some of the signature flavors of the original sandwich in an easy-to-serve party appetizer.

Coffee Pot Hors D’oeuvers

Servings: About 8–10 as an appetizer

Prep Time: About 15 minutes
Cook Time: According to pizza dough package directions

Ingredients:

  • 1 package Robin Hood pizza dough, prepared and baked according to package directions until golden brown

For the Cream Cheese Spread:

  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

For the Topping:

  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the pizza dough according to the package directions. Bake until golden brown, then allow the crust to cool.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, dill weed, garlic salt and onion powder. Mix until smooth and thoroughly combined.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pizza crust.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the finely chopped tomato, green bell pepper and onion.
  5. Sprinkle the vegetable mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  6. Top evenly with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Cut into small squares or rectangles and serve as an appetizer.

Tip: Drain the chopped tomato well before adding it to the pizza. Removing the excess juice will help prevent the creamy topping and crust from becoming watery.
